You got a few things wrong:

First, ChatGPT has been the most downloaded app for two years straight, the idea that AI is loathed by the general public is pure delusion, propped up by manipulated surveys and people living in a bluesky bubble.

Second, Big tech wasn't well liked by the early 2020s, that ended in the early 2010s when the NYT editorial board took a top down decision to cover big tech negatively.

Third, the idea that they were innovating before but aren't now is insane. AI is the biggest innovation in tech since the transistor and possibly the only true innovation since the GUI.

The way you would do that generally is to make it backwards compatible, then adding warning to legacy tools, then turning SHA-1 off by default, then removing it entirely. Doing it in a backwards incompatible way creates a chicken and egg problem, can't convert repo to sha-256 because some tool doesn't support it, tools don't have an incentive to be updated because no repositories.

Imagine fretting about water and electricity usage in europe, where we'll never ever have a datacenter build-up because electricity prices are too high anyway.

Didn't you know? Once you heat up water that's it, you can't use that water ever again. It's even worse if you make it evaporate, not just useless but GONE.

Yemen, one of the poorest countries on earth, closed an important EU trade route for over a year and we couldn't fix it. Defending your land vs protecting your trade interests are different things.

Brussels too. There's some US cities that seem to be exceptionally bad, in a league of their own, but that's probably still a small fraction of all the homeless.

If we did mind a world were global trade was unreliable we have a military to match that concern, but we don't. The Houthi close the red sea for years and we can't do anything about it. Iran, attacked by the US, retaliates against us by closing the strait of Hormutz and we sit in the monitoring chair.

It is what it is.

> The first time I went to the US as a teenager, I was surprised

How many years ago was this? Because over the past 20 years things have gotten better in the US and worse in EU, steadily.

Apparently well enough that we copied them in europe too. There's now a 3 euro tariff on every package imported from outside the EU.

There's no point in answering this question, either you get it or you don't. If you get it you get it. If you don't it's because the way you want to use your desktop fits exactly into the design decisions of GNOME and you can't even imagine somebody wanting different features. It can't even be chalked up to an extreme lack of imagination because there is a plethora of desktop environments that do things differently from GNOME that you could look up to figure out why one might think GNOME is bad.

This is a very dishonest post but it doesn't matter "there is no room for debate or argument, here" this is not a post aiming to convince anyone who might disagree, it's about rallying the troops.

My advice is: delete the blog, all of it. It's nothing but a list of red flags.

I want to go to work, cooperate with mature adults, make a paycheck and go back home. I don't want to have to help my colleagues through their mental health crises, I don't want them to cause a ruckus and I don't want to be recruited by them into a marxist revolution.

Every post exudes histrionism, grandeur, chuuni.

"I'm not capable of being a respectable Negro" I don't even know what that means, how about being a respectable person? I see your website and think "probably not".

Do most people buy their airplane tickets at a physical travel agent? Do they do most of their shopping at physical stores? Do they send paper mail instead of email or messages? Do they worry about buying from assembly lines that are least mechanized? Do they buy a car or take a horse carriage?

It isn't about hurting others, it's about convenience and price.

They don't want them to replace their job, they want them to replace other peoples jobs.
