The nice thing about Michael Scott is that while he is a self-absorbed and very flawed manager and human, he also genuinely cares a great deal about his employees.

I was having the problem yesterday that the GitHub API sometimes simply doesn't list an in progress workflow run in the output when I specifically filter for it:

"api.github.com/repos/{owner}/{repo}/actions/runs?status=in_progress" -> outputs 3 workflow runs

5 seconds later -> outputs 2 workflow runs

5 seconds later -> outputs same 3 workflow runs again

Apparently they make no guarantees of any type of consistency or continuity in output, which has the side effect of also making it completely useless.

Most people who drive a car have no idea how an engine works. I know and agree it's a scary future, but I wonder if it's really _essential_ to understand things on a deeper level.

Most people are quite capable of understanding higher-order ideas without fully grasping the underlying details too.

This looks logically sound to me, thanks!

I’m sorry but no. Maybe it’s my ignorance of TM’s, but O(log n) doesn’t read all input by definition. It doesn’t follow that it is therefore _independent_ of the input size.

What makes a/your TM special that this is the case?

I don’t mean to take too much of your time though, maybe I’m too dumb for this.

Edit: I can sort of see how O(log n) is impossible or at least O(n) in a TM, but to reduce it to O(1) makes no sense to me

What is the relationship between n and N? log(n) is still unbounded so I can’t make sense of your comment.

Obviously by how well they teach, but if we give them a stake in their teaching performance, their teaching should improve even more…

If it’s a federal or state tax break it shouldn’t affect cities’ revenue too much?
