It would be almost certainly lethal injection, not hanging

A story without conflict, where everything goes well wouldn’t be a very interesting story though. So there’s a bit of a survivorship bias there.

This is 1σ. It’s fun and interesting, but means nothing.

I am deeply frustrated by what the HIG has devolved into. It used to be a clear, coherent document, to the point, just the right level of detail. It has devolved into something that feels more like a brochure.

> Like if a culture is bad, is it likely a CEO is going to be looking for random blog posts for constructive criticism

No, but the CEO will absolutely seek out my recommendations and I do read random blog posts

There’s something wrong with that guy. Quite apart from the gross privacy violation issues. Most of us didn’t even know what Flock was before the Superbowl and now there is this massive public controversy around it, and every time he opens his mouth he makes it worse. The board needs to replace him ASAP.

I have a question for any physicists here.

Due to my engineering background, I know just enough physics and mathematics to completely misunderstand general relativity and quantum mechanics. However, one pattern I have noticed is that one favorite past time of physicists is looking at the mathematical models, trying to find insane ass edge cases and then trying to interpret them.

With that in mind, do these equations allow black holes whose singularities extend beyond their event horizons?

> To conclude, I don’t understand why hdiutil needs to be deprecated when the same functionality will live on in diskutil. For some reason, Apple seems intent on breaking longtime workflows and scripts.

Brother, it’s Apple. Any backwards compatibility is purely incidental.

> It sounds to be like 5.5 and below may have been using a conventional attention scheme where a cached KV sequence can be easily used to restore a prefix of itself, but perhaps 5.6 is using linear attention or LSTM or another recurrent scheme where you cannot rewind the model state by just truncating it.

I feel like this is the kind of substantial change to your product that you would need to tell your customers about. It would be simply disrespectful to your customers to not disclose this upfront.

> But that’s not what happened at all. Godier proceeded through a series of escalations up to the App Review Board and the Review Board responded that they determined the original rejection was valid because, I shit you not, “We understand that the app includes a live tarot reading feature.”

> It has no tarot function, no horoscopes, and nothing that I, or anyone else I’ve asked, would associate with astrology.

I have dealt with the Byzantine App Store bureaucracy before. What you do here, is you submit a new version, pretty much identical to the previous one, with the comment “tarot function removed”.

Five bucks says they have used an LLM to put the list together.

Pretty sure this was one of those so-called “jokes” I have read about in a research paper once. American humor tends to rely on overstatement. This is contrast with British humor that more often builds on understatement.

Interestingly, both FIFA and IOC are headquartered in Switzerland, a country that is ranked by Transparency International as one least corrupt countries in the world… Draw you own conclusions.

I’ve been working in this industry for 20 years. Nobody gets fired for this, not at Netflix or any of the other studios. Especially a VP. I don’t know how to express how unlikely any of this is. This was an excuse, not the real reason.

Ok well here is a general longevity-related reason why resistance training is important.

Lifting weights also increases bone mass. As you get older, osteoporosis becomes more and more of a concern. You fall one day, and the less bone mass you have built up, the more likely it is that you will lose mobility. There is a strong link between reduced mobility and cognitive decline and also a cascade of other health problems. Old person + hip fracture = significantly increased mortality, and the way to prevent this is by building up bone mass while you still can.
