Ironically rewriting git history is a perfect opportunity for a supply chain attack.

I have to imagine assistant (AI usage) will be next, and swap to pay as you go. And search won't get cheaper because I imagine they've made the mistake of treating the unused AI credit as a subsidy for other services

Why can't the AI budget be shared with translate?

I definitely don't use all of it from my duo plan, and it's passing through external costs.

Just charge the translate usage to that budget!?

Edit: and why am I reading about this on hacker news not in an email several months ago?

NATS had failed once, so it failing again doesn't seem extraordinary to me.

In the US. In the UK all the major unions I know don't require membership and fight for all employees in the industries they represent. E.g. as a software developer on a research project at a University I got all the negotiated benefits of the academic Union.

Absolutely not. I don't feel it's necessary to pay the sacrifices needed for a trustless society.

I would much rather be able to have things like personalised searches (which are identifying).

I'm frequently idle for five minutes while I review, at which point the cache has expired

Enterprise pricing: 10 credits per message if not "Instant". Our monthly charge for 30k credits makes that around $2.

I might be out by a factor of 2/3 (automatically applied promo deals/credits make it very hard to be sure), but we get 3k messages per month for a seat count of ~60, and finance are concerned about cost.

$2 is probably a good deal for the Extra High 8 minutes of agentic searching/coding/etc when it one-shots a whole project.

$2 is a terrible deal for a 5 second instant retrieval.

How much does it cost? ChatGPT costs ~$2 per message; if Anthropic have a similar pricing model don't you find lots of small changes and up fast?

I just have an always on VPN so can tunnel back to my home assistant server; which can handle todos/reminders/calendar events. Quick messages to contacts I haven't considered.

A phone has 10-20x if not more weight of electronics.

I assume you will use your phone for 20-40 years?

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to get $200 of value out of personal use!

Staleness of what though?

LSPs only really pro-actively send diagnostics (error/warning/info/suggest[/code action]).

Everything else is responsive; the client asks for symbols in this document, or completion on this line, etc. And if the client is aware of document changes (which are versioned), it should notify of those before requesting new symbols/etc, but that's not difficult.

I don't know that it's mandatory, but I definitely implemented servers so that they would complete processing changed documents before responding to any later requests.

And if it's just the client re-using cached symbols without asking for an update (which should be very fast if nothing has changed); well, that's foolish.

Is it? For the three languages I tried to use it for it was terrible.

It was like it only had the basic language support plugin I wrote for myself at uni: basic syntax and current file/directory only source files loaded into context.

So any referenced projects, tooling, even packages in one language, and you have false positive errors everywhere.
