When I went through infantry training at Ft Benning I learned that the term "infantry" referred to a nation's ability to field soldiers, which is dependent upon the birth rate.

More infants = more soldiers.

Thus, by extrapolation, soldiers, especially infantrymen, are considered to be expendable.

Sadly, bureaucracy has allowed the care given to our veterans to fall short of expectations, but for many of those with military experience such treatment is par for the course.

With AdBlock+ and HTTPSB you still get the network traffic from unwanted sites.

AdSuck, from the good folks at Conformal, blocks unwanted connections and thus decreases unwanted network traffic.

The FCC doesn't even agree with ISPs on the definition of what, exactly, constitutes "Broadband" connectivity.

Meanwhile the monopoly in my area continues to receive my payments, no matter what they do.

The spammer appears to be a religious hypocrite, so why not spam the spammer with religious hypocrisy right from their own playbook?

I would begin with Isaiah 45:7 "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."

Ubuntu still phones home too much for my liking.

That said, I appreciate how much the OS has improved since I first gave "Breezy Badger" a spin a few years ago, and Ubuntu is the obvious choice when I recommend an alternative OS to my non-tech savvy acquaintances.

I've been using the ssh -C -D 8080 -fN [email protected] for years now, no VPS needed if you use a free shell account.

Free != lazy

Also, lazy people dislike having to manually configure their web clients.
