> Most people own a car for 3 years or less

This seems absurd on the face of it.

> China subsidizes them

Maybe we should subsidize some industries ourselves, probably a better investment than more war.

> US Army, ADP 6-22, Army Leadership and the Profession

I'm not going to let the army tell me what my job is.

"Older" in this context is "the gaming audience of 45 years ago".

> OG gamers expected to have their hair blown back .... pretty much every title every time

OG gamer here (started on the Fairchild Channel F). This is absurd.

What is true is that the hardware rapidly advanced, and as programmers got familiar with each platform the software also advanced, but the shelves were full of stinkers and disappointments and copycats.

> retarded

Cut it out.

> Cuomo downplayed the objections in a written statement to Fortune

I see he still has trouble with the concept of "consent".

I always got a kick out of those graphs of projected solar power capacity that showed the line leveling off if not actually shrinking, with successive year's predictions doing the same thing again and again, but the actual numbers continuing to shoot way up.

Like the itanium sales forecast chart, except in reverse.

> I think the earlier console generations where created by a bunch of passionate nerds eager to make something cool.

The very earliest, maybe, but not really once you get into the 1980s.

The most charitable thing you can say about "only those with over-active immune systems survived the 14th century plagues" is that it's so broad as to be meaningless. (Might you perhaps have been thinking of Familial Mediterranean Fever?)

Y.pestis is very good at evading the innate immune response (to the point of reproducing inside macrophages and neutrophils) and likes hanging out in lymph nodes. What kind of increased activity would help here?

> Cursing has a long tradition in

By and large the hacker news moderators and commentariat have demonstrated that they do not welcome those cultures here.

> Recently I learned that

Doesn't mean that what you learned was true.

Coward.

> a revival of playing music (e.g. at the piano, on the guitar) at home

How do you know we haven't?
