My oven (which has a camera and WiFi, don't ask, it's a great oven otherwise and doesn't exist without WiFi) received a software update this morning. I can't help but wonder if it's related.

Because you need a certain amount of notice and in this case drama to be created so people know to update ASAP, before the exploit is out in the wild. As soon as these patches are out it becomes a lot easier for any actors to figure out exactly what they are patching, and how to exploit it.

Announcing when this patch is going to be released should leave a much shorter vulnerable window with the exploit out in the wild than releasing it immediately and hoping people update before they're a target.

Another Belgian here, the first thing I did when I started working is switch to International English keyboards. Some employers wanted me to use local keyboards but I always managed to convince them to let me get another one in the end.

It's a bit of an emotional goodbye to the super cheap Mac Minis we got to enjoy for a while. I got some for family members, we had some serving as iOS/macOS build servers sitting in a closet at my last job, they were fantastic.

Not that they're a bad deal now, but at European prices of over €1000 for M6/16GB/256GB it's a psychological barrier that's been broken.

We started using it for unifi.ui.com and the render performance gain has been massive.

Yes, in some European countries, although only for a limited time and they never sold well.

Yes. Android Auto and CarPlay still work and you get basic Google Maps functionality without signing in. You can't download additional apps though.

I run our office IT, and WiFi 7 is just better at managing congestion. We have a floor in a busy building and 5Ghz is chaos. 6E is fine, it's just strangely old for a company like Apple.

The lack of WiFi 7 is disappointing. 6E is fine but by now I'd expect 7 in new computers.

Has anyone been able to confirm if the macOS 26.1 developer beta is affected? I updated to it pretty quickly and haven't been able to reproduce the lag on it.

It's on both. Apple should probably have caught this in beta considering how widespread Electron apps are, and have worked with Electron to fix it or they should've worked around it (which Microsoft would probably have done).
