At some point, foregoing everything that is similar to what you just mentioned moves out of inconvenience territory and into social self-exclusion territory. To remain ideologically consistent with your argument, one must fully self-exclude.

Consider all of the sources of the available tracking data on a person in the United States. If you don't have a cell phone, don't drive a car, don't walk around outdoor networked cameras, don't patronize businesses that have networked cameras, don't use a credit card, how exactly are you interacting with this society?

Belief and stakeholder buy-in is all that it takes for that data to be collected, no?

Like everything else in today’s world: scale makes all the difference.

Let everyone file that claim for a single geek squad visit.

Oh, I sure have. It’s not all ignorance, unfortunately.

Ah, great. Time to prepare.

Prepare for what? In what way?

If the parent had kept reading, they might have discovered the retroactive explanation of that sentence:

"This is the form’s real operation. Deadpan does not convince you it is neutral. It performs neutrality in a way that lets you enjoy both the performance and your awareness of it. You are in on the joke. The image says it didn’t choose, and you know it chose, and both of you agree to pretend otherwise because the pretence produces something valuable: attention."

I am curious to hear why you believe those roles don't provide any value.

Those particular neurons of mine haven't seen action in quite some time, thank you.

I think I see where you're coming from, but if we're using them to predict hurricanes, it's likely just meteorological data arbitrage. All else seems like random chance; hardly an example of an oracle.

In the prediction markets, there's a fine line between predicting and manifesting.

That's one way to get severance.
