A lot of people love hacker news because the website is simple, fast, and its UI stays out of the way.
I just can't seem to leave well enough alone
I built HackerFlow because I wanted to browse HN visually while keeping articles and comments in the same place. The goal is a fast UI that stays out of the way but offers more visuals. I tried a few other GUIs and none of them really satisfied me.
Features:
- Gallery, magazine, list and compact views
- Inline article reader with rendered text and page previews
- Infinite scrolling with thumbnail preloading
- Collapsible comments, capped indentation and next-parent navigation
- Preserved scroll position when opening stories or navigating back
- Search, local bookmarks, dark mode and keyboard shortcuts
- Responsive layouts and an installable web app
- Bookmarked articles stored in your browser
