The real answer is not that companies are trying to please shareholders, it’s that they are trying to please customers.

Nobody external gave a directive to build this. But if people buy it en masse, they will continue to invest in it. If not they will sunset it.

Its success or failure rests on consumers, the same people responsible for parenting their children well.
