To echo other comments, it would be really good if posts on this subject were more complete about the details of what's happening if for no other reason thаn it's difficult to understand the situation without those details. I'm pretty anti-corporate but it's hard to be anti-corporate without a level, complete picture.
Concretely in my case, I read all the fdroid materials that were linked to from the fdroid pop-ups and they left me hanging, trying to understand what was actually happening. I finally looked it up, and what I found was a lot more clear and actionable than what was communicated by, for example, Fdroid. Obviously Google's motives are clear, but I had to work pretty hard to figure out what was going on.
This style of communication is what will will undo graphene and fdroid and all these other organizations because it's just not useful, professional or appealing.
