In the age of AI where people are saying that it hard to understand or maintain the code that AI puts out, conventions are your savor. Rails has always been about any programmer looking at an existing application and getting a grasp on the code right away cause of the conventions. I feel that will become even more important in the future when people need to look at the code that AI is producing and understand or debug it.
