What's particularly annoying is once the meeting is arbitrarily scheduled in for say an hour then many feel the need to drag the meeting out over that entire hour regardless of if everything important has been covered within 20 minutes. Along with this comes the annoying trend of the meeting organiser 'giving you time back' if they conclude the meeting slightly early as if they are doing you a favour for not running the meeting for the entire duration when really that should be the default.
