I really don't get it.

How should it effect hobbyists?

Hobby is by definition independent of being useful commercially or otherwise. It is an individuals pass time.

I still drive my motorcycle as a hobby. Being able to take a cab to the destination won't influence my decision to ride.

It should only effects the careerists, accerlating what's possible to deliver.
