It's an illusory choice. The USA has tried isolationism a couple times before and that didn't work, either. While I do favor a less interventionist foreign policy it's naive to think that the oceans will protect us. Hostile powers including North Korea and Iran either already have the capability to strike the US homeland — or will have it soon.
