There's a lot of parallels between rationalist belief in AI and religious belief in God. Roko's Basilisk is just rewarmed Pascal's Wager. The singularity is just the apocalypse / rapture. There's similar group dynamics with high priests (tech CEOs), theologians (Yud, SA), sacred texts (various substacks, lesswrong), heresies (logical fallacies)...
