Is this a US phenomenon? In Sweden dental care is free up to 21 years of age, and for adults heavily subsidised. I heard similar stories from my friends in US about every aspect of the “healthcare system”, from pregnancy and birthing to seeing someone when you have a pain in your back. Seems like the whole thing is incentivised to suck you dry
