Standalone email has really been a frustration when it comes to using Linux. I was happy with Mailspring, but it doesn't really work with my window manager. Thunderbird does way too much and its default search behavior is unacceptably bad. I've tried a few other clients and been extremely unhappy with them for various reasons.
