I was just surveying the options earlier for DDR4 mobos with 8 dimm slots and pcie 4.0. Narrowed to the idea of a TRX40 and a Threadripper 3960X for ~$900CAD total (on ebay, every listing ships from China). Worth it or risky? Would be to drop in 8x16GB dimms from a couple old gaming boxes and use Strata with a 5070 Ti.
