I'd argue a lot of the recent focus on AI safety, "pacing the frontier", etc, is the industry freaking out about models like DeepSeek.
But the other reason is because most people in technology are just as lazy as consumers and the friction between getting onto DeepSeek vs OpenAI or Anthropic is just a tad too much and people go with what's convenient.
