One purported reason is to inform their "auto delivery" (if you subscribe) that you're low on supply and they can ship you more pods. e.g. when you get to n <= 5 pods left, it will initiate an order so that you're replenished before n==0...no idea if it's smart enough to "know" the consumption rate and order based on drinker(s) or if it's a hard #
