Slightly related. I'm building a house in India and I'm a big fan of locally controller home automation (without cloud). I have used home assistant in multiple homes, so I'm sticking with it. Everything is being automated with knx. The pain point right now is, there are no knx fan controllers, at least not in India. Wherever I can not use knx (such as tower fans, robot vacuums or de-humidifiers), I use Xiaomi because most of their products can be controlled on a local-only wifi connection. So when looking at smart ceiling fans, my first goto was Xiaomi, but they don't have any (at least not in India). So I ended up ordering a ZigBee fan controller for Alibaba to be used with a regular dumb fan.
