I am the founder and CEO of one of these startups. The problem space is vast and complex. We have paying customers in production in the 5,000-50,000 employees range and in the 50,000-100,000 employees range. The latter ones have a more urgent need to address. Below 5,000 employees the need is not there right now. Fin-ops and compliance are major drivers for adoption of these control planes for AI right now. Gartner started tracking a new category called AI middleware that is sort of what you are referring to (runtime governance).
