What's Up with Airships?

Is there anything interesting being developed in the field of "Airships" for commercial use and passenger transport?

I've read about LTA (Lighter Than Air), a startup backed by Sergey Brin, but very little else.

I am very curious, as I'd love Airships to become more viable, safer, and fun to use.
