Ask HN: Ai.com used to redirect to ChatGPT, then X.com, and now Google Gemini?

What is going on with that domain? There are plenty of articles regarding the ChatGPT to Elon Musk (x.ai) transfer, but I have been unable to find out how Google managed to get it.
