I am nuts into linux desktop security, but I cannot imagine recommending this to even other developers, let alone non-dev users. There are just too many usability tradeoffs, the whole thing is a major time waster, and you have to deal with a lot of breakage. Making basic security measures easy to implement is what's going to help in the long run.
