Assuming that one has been in staff engineer role having 15 years of experience, executed several projects across verticals making significant impact, taking care of other staff+ engineer[1] tasks like hiring, technical leadership, hiring, strategy etc.
How does one prepare for the career progression from here to roles such as Director/VP of Engineering, possibly CTO at smaller startups?
