Here is a more recent post with benchmarks of different GUID algorithms in SQL Server, the author has a different outcome. In his benchmarks about index fragmentation, COMBGuid is not really much better than normal GUIDs. http://microsoftprogrammers.jebarson.com/benchmarking-index-...
