The Soviet Union at one late stage couldn't even supply sanitary towels for half its population and thus women had to tear up old clothes to take care of menstruation. But who cares as long as it put "the fucking Fear of God into the capitalist class". It didn't of course and thank goodness because the last 20 years of capitalism has seen the greatest decline in world poverty ever in the history of humanity. That's the result of letting individual humans make decisions about how they want to trade goods and services with other human beings.
