Ask HN: How do you build pre-launch landing pages?

I'm building an concept web app at the moment and I'm looking to launch a simple pre-launch landing page to start gauging interest in the concept.

What are some tips that you've used successfully?

NB: I have done plenty of research on the topic I'm just looking to hear from the community here.
